According to data from electric energy specialists Fischer, homeowners are facing additional costs this winter by not planning ahead and managing their heating systems. With energy prices rising and the cost of living increasing, Fischer is advising that additional expenditure during the more expensive winter months can be avoided by getting cold-weather ready this summer.
One simple way of avoiding additional costs is to identify what heating equipment needs replacing or maintaining in the summer – and not when the items will be needed or in use. According to Fischer’s data, enquiries around the purchase of its electric boilers rose by 94% in January 2022, compared to just 2.9% applications in July 2021. October and December also saw peaks, with homeowners boosting enquiries by 44% and 49% respectively.
The figures reveal that homeowners are not planning for the cold weather and are instead leaving upgrades to the last minute – or when they need to use a boiler – which could be too late.
Although installations are made by Fischer’s in-house team, the demand for electric boilers can be so high in the winter that it can result in delays in fitting and supply.
To avoid this, and to help manage budgets when the cost of living will be at its peak, the Fischer team is recommending that homeowners plan ahead and get winter ready during the warmer summer months.
Comments Fischer CEO Keith Bastian: “We’re urging people to get winter-ready now in preparation for colder days and when people may be feeling more of a pinch financially. Not only will homeowners have time to make sure their heating is fit for purpose and replace a boiler if needed, but any costs can be spread whilst there is less energy usage over the summer months.”
